Summerween Nails: Where Brights Meet Spooky Season 👻🎃

Keeping Summer Alive With a Spooky Twist

Love having acrylic nails and want to try your hand at doing them yourself? This week, Meg created a playful, seasonal set combining fruity fun with spooky accents - featuring pineapples, watermelons, ghosts, and skeletons. Of course, all products are from Naio Nails and Urban Graffiti, showing off just how versatile the range can be.

We’ve put together a step-by-step look at how she created it, so you can try the design at home.

The products you’ll need

Step 1. Base and prep

  1. Apply Base Coat and cure under the lamp.

  2. Apply your chosen base colours to set the background for the fruity layers.

Step 2. Pineapple and watermelon first layers

  1. Using the Fine Detail Brush and your gel polishes (Sherbet Lemon for pineapple and Guac for watermelon), paint the first shapes of your fruity design.

  2. Cure and repeat to build up a smooth first coat.

Step 3. Second coat

Apply a second layer of the pineapple and watermelon base colours to intensify the design, then cure.

Step 4. Watermelon and pineapple detailing

  1. Add the watermelon details: Clover Field for the rind, Snow White for seeds, and Summer Sky or Pixie Dust for accents.

  2. Add pineapple detailing with Butterscotch shading and fine black line work using Serious Black.

Step 5. Carved faces and spooky start

Meg carves out little spooky faces in the fruit designs for a Halloween-ready twist. She then begins painting a ghost design using Snow White and Serious Black for the outline.

Step 6. A little unboxing break 🎁

In true nail tech fashion, Meg pauses the design to unbox her large Naio Nails order  - and immediately puts some of the fresh products to work in the set.

Step 7. Skeleton and ghost finish

Meg continues with the skeleton design, adding crisp black detailing with her Fine Detail Brush, before finishing off the ghost for a cheeky, seasonal mix.

Step 8. Seal and finish

  1. Apply Ultra Matte Coat on selected nails to contrast with glossy ones.

  2. Use Top Coat to seal the rest of the designs, then cure.

  3. Add a final bath bomb-style flourish with sparkly touches of Pixie Dust for extra pop.

The final reveal

A playful set that balances fruity brights with seasonal spookiness: pineapples, watermelons, carved faces, ghosts, and skeletons. Quirky, fun, and perfect for those who like their autumn nails with a twist.
